A mixed bag of ranked players and youth here. Dan Cox has flown bag from US (before returning again this weekend) to be top seed, Fitzy is here, Evan Hoyt lines up from the Juniors
A good win for Evan, who should be heading to South America shortly for junior events, but he lost comfortably next round to Tom Farquharson.
Dan Cox won the title in unfortunate circumstances - Fitzy having to retire with Dan leading 7-6(3) 1-0 (Jessica Ren won the women's event)
I noticed the following on the LTA site referring to new developments for the Tour this year (apologies if this has been highlighted in another thread) - some more incentives:
"LTA Wimbledon Wild Card Play Offs (13-15 June 2012)
The winner of the Mens & Womens events at the Nottingham (Tier 1) on 3-8 June will receive a wild card into the LTA Wimbledon Wild Card Play Offs. If the winner does not require a Wild Card, this will be offered to the runner-up. If the runner-up does not require a wild card then the wild card will be released. A wild card slot will also be allocated to the player at the top of the AEGON British Tour leader board after Cardiff (21-26 May). If not required by the player at the top this will be offered to the second placed player, and so on down to the 5th placed player only. If the wild card is not taken up then it will be released."
Interesting incentives but, its only to get into the plays offs (which lead to a spot in qualies) if I have read it right? Still, good to add them in, the Tour has become a lot more worthwhile over the last couple of years since it was restructured, this can only help it further.

Yes you read it right. Essentially it offers a route to Wimbledon for anyone outside the GB top 20, who would otherwise be reliant on injuries, opt-outs or picking up a discretionary wildcard. Expect a higher than usual turnout from low-ranked Brits at Nottingham
