Women's 15Ks

Just noticed, when checking on the new WTA ranking points schedule that I was remembering something right, that it seems to hold out the possibility of 15K events for women at last, instead of the women's only Futures-equivalents being 10Ks, which were first introduced 28 years ago, when the prize money was worth rather more!

See http://www.wtatennis.com/SEWTATour-Archive/Rankings_Stats/howitworks.pdf and, if confused by the 8/1 in the R16 column, actual page 226 (pdf page 228) on:

http://www.wtatennis.com/SEWTATour-Archive/Archive/AboutTheTour/rules.pdf

However, the ITF calendar doesn't show any women's 15Ks having been scheduled yet.

If they had kept up with UK inflation, a £10k 28 years ago should be worth nearly £28k today.

The good news ... some women's 15Ks are finally on the schedule.

The very bad news ... the first one, as far as I can tell (in Prerov later this month), used to be a 25K, not a 10K.

Not exactly progress ... though who knows, maybe it was an alternative to it not being held at all.
