Nadal to play Halle in 2012

Apparently Rafa will be playing Halle in 2012 after the organisors offered him an appearance fee of roughy £750,000.

The total prize money offered is only a little over £500,000. I really hope people remember this next time Rafa complains about having to play too much.

No doubt the thought of playing Fed rather than Andy or Novak has its appeal, too. If Fed turns up next year of course.

Yeh, Queens were right not to bother matching that ludicrous appearance fee.
Fed won't show as he has a lifetime deal with Halle or something I read.

Djok and Andy should be there. :)

queens is lta funded now too, so any apperance money would effectivly take away from our own players, i doubt it will effect attendance but we shall see. i guess halle were keen to get a 2nd biog star, esp as this match week is liable to pull outs.

It's also Halle's 20th anniversary, so their main sponsor is piling the money in this year. Well done to the LTA for not trying to match the ludicrous appearance fee, especially for a player whose star is now on the wane.

Yes, a bit tongue in cheek LOL but I definitely meant the bit about being pleased the LTA didn't try to match the appearance fee.

Queens always has a very strong field for a 250 so they have no need to pay silly money.

Who knows, after what the Halle Organiser said about Fed pulling out this year he might be annoyed enough with them to come to Queens.

now seems it's not appearance money but tax that has caused the change. certainly rafa isn't the 1st high profile athlete to take issue with this.
