Anne withdrew from Poitiers yesterday according to ITF website. This was her number 1 choice and with all the withdrawals she would easily have made it into the main draw. However she is still down for Barnstaple (note with a P not a B) even though this was her second choice. Weaker draw than Poitiers so maybe she is hoping for a few more matches at Barnstaple.

Anyone able to clear up the deal with entering tournaments and then withdrawing. I don't understand how you can put a tourney down as your number 1 priority withdraw from it and go to your number 2 priority.

Damm I spell that wrong every year!

Basically there is a withdrawal deadline so if you withdraw from your Priority1 event before that you can play your number 2...I believe the deadline for Barnstaple is today

Haha. I'll forgive you! As a citizen of the South West I feel it is my duty to point these things out

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Fingers crossed she'll still play at Barnstaple. Always good to have plenty of Brits to cheer on.

Barnstaple field now looking very strong, Robbo down in 19th spot, and a further change of heart sees Naomi choose this tournament ahead of the French one. Only Bally of our top players not committed to this event.
Awful place to get to as a fan, if I was to try and get there by car its basically twice as far as Shrewsbury. Expensive as well as they charge for every day of the tournament apart from qualifying. Also they have ditched the half decent website they had for the first 3 years and replaced it with a dreaded LTA version.
Is anyone going to get there from this board, or are we going to be at the mercy of the LTA for random updates ?
I somehow think that the unbelievable coverage we got from Shrewsbury thanks to us lot will not be replicated this time.

Very curious

Rice is seemingly planning on going to Kuwait while Thornley is playing Cardiff.

Hi Seagull,

Can I politely ask whether it would be possible for you to put on the points defences for the women as well.

Many thanks,
Helen.
