Very weak 25K - it looks like Jade Windley and Lucy Brown have joined Naomi Broady, Mel South, Tara Moore, Jo Konta and Anna Fitzpatrick plus wildcards Yasmin Clarke, Samantha Vickers, Fran Stephenson and Alex Walker in the main draw. Sadly Emily Webley-Smith is in hospital and misses out.
She said she went in for a cortisone injection, having said a few days ago that she was looking forward to playing in Wrexham.
Obviously it's possible that she could still get to Wrexham and play (the main draw does not start until Wednesday), but like David, I took that to mean she had had to withdraw.

GBTG reports that Emily is having an operation on her appendix today. She really is unlucky, with the US Open 7 weeks away she will be pushed to get match fit in time as it usually takes 4-6 weeks to recover from an appendectomy.
first update from a dryish wrexham. playing indoors on 3 courts, should be going outdoors soon , Emily only withdrawal from main draw, no surprising results so far.
completely irrevelent points of the day;) francesca lewis had to serve underarm due to a rib injury highest quality match of the day. aimee v daneika. aimee is apparently going to hang up her boots shortly eventhough she is playing the best tennis of her life. mel and fran arrived this arvo and played a practice session together. 4/5 matches were played outdoors today the rest indoors, eventhough it didn't rain after 10am, the courts here take forever to dry.
Not sure how the Melrose-Southall match finished, though I assume Melrose won in straight sets since Bowtell (IRL) v 15yo Brit Eden Silva is already into a 2nd set. Then again, Bowtell is 6-0 2-0* up and Silva has only won about a dozen points, so it may not have been going for that long!
