I see that renowned established pair of Cox & Ward ( doubles rankings on 06/06 616 & 258 ) got a MD WC while Rice & Thornley ( 280 & 266 ) missed out
I know that they were higher on the alternates entry list ( because singles rankings can be used for doubles and these were 273 & 216 i.e. totalling within the magic 500, but c'mon... )
Anyway, Rice & Thornley did their talking in qualifying and may be licking their lips at that first round tie
PS : By the way no major problem with Cox & Ward getting a WC, but to get it in preference to Rice & Thornley, joke ! Eaton & Goodall, perfectly fair enough.

Don't disagree with you for one second Indy about Ricey and Sean but I did witness a decent effort by Coxy/Wardy in beating Ken and his partner at Notts. Dan was especially impressive that evening, just hope they give it a decent crack and don't just treat it as an exhibition.
R1: Robin Haase & Ken Skupski (NED/GBR) v Arnaud Clement & Lukas Dlouhy (FRA/NED)
How on earth did I miss that one, especially as I was wondering whether Skups would have a partner for the competition & it's the pairing immediately below Jamie's & Stakh's in the lower half of the draw?!! In my defence, I will say only that I was in a bit of a hurry to log off & set off for the north-east to be with my mother for the weekend ('twas her 92nd birthday on Saturday! ) & was reading the draw on screen rather than in hard copy. Always have a problem with that...
Ward/Cox lead 2-0...since when did Mens doubles stop being best of 5?
I wasn't aware that they had ( ), so I imagine this is the first year & TPTB at the AELTC simply decided to fall into line with the other Grand Slams. Wonder if the final will revert to best of five...
Coxy & Dino surrendered their early break & now stand at 4-3*.
