An abbreviated qualifying draw of 24 sees Anne Keothavong seeded to qualify, given a bye in the first qualifying round. Irina Falconi, who lost to Laura Robson recently, is the other seed in her section.
The meeting was in Indian Wells with Galina winning 7-5 0-6 6-1. At the time of meeting she was also ranked higher than Anne (113 v Anne's 132)
This is a very tough match - Galina seems to be returning from Injury. Earlier this year qualified for a $220k event (when ranked 550) and then took out Maria Kirilenko and also recently won a $25k event in Casablanca.
7 bps each - the difference was that Voskobaeva took 5 of them Anne only 1.
According to the scoreboard Voskoboeva took 6 / 7 BPs against Anne's 2 / 7 ( I think you were maybe looking at BPs saved ) though obviously still gives much the same message.
That said, all Anne's BPs were in a more competitive first set with most points being on Galina's serve. First set points were 27 - 35, 2nd set points 11 - 26, overall 38 - 61 so ultimately very conclusive.
Voskoboeva made short work of Falconi, but both made it into the main draw with winnable matches. Anne teams up with Ayumi Morita and they play Sofia Arvidsson and Andreja Klepac tomorrow afternoon
