Sarah will be almost certainly be dropping out of the top 100 after this week. She is defending 130 points from a tour semi appearance last year and even a 25K title win would a) not be enough points to keep her in and b) won't count for an extra week anyway.
Looking back to the end of July last year,,,,
The 200 points she and Kops - Jones had earned for reaching the semis in the Stanford tournament, after their huge victory over Raymond and Stubbs in the first round, had taken her ranking up into the 60s. All was good in the world and then she had to retire early on in the semi still feeling the effects of being hit on the head earlier. Took time to get over that, and now also no longer plays with K-J, real pity.

That's a frustrating loss - belated revenge for the Ukrainian after she and her partner lost in R1 of Wimbledon girls' doubles to Tara and Hev in 2008! Sotnikova is 18, lists her residence as Bradenton (implying that she's a Bolletieri's girl) and thrashed WR 322 2 & 0 to qualify for Pelham 25K last week, so it may be some consolation that Tara pushed her a lot closer than that!
