RE: Week 10 - Futures F3 ($15k) - Tipton, Great Britain

I think Morgan and Hewitt won in the doubles.

From Ashleys twitter: good game of doubles with @georgemorgan10 points back on the board

another good day.
You right ive played better than today but im getting the wins and winning the big points. Feel i can hit winners from the back from anywhere.
Only thng i havent been happy with is first serve percentage. But im winning with it being low, so if i got it up it could only make things easier.
In the doubles we were dominating and then most of the games from 61 52 went to deuce and just couldnt close it out. they would play a good point, or shank a lob winner. Held our nerve at the end and on to tomorrow.
Feeling good, will need to serve well but dont fear anyone.
Definitely backing myself the longer the ralleys like in rastogi match, because of the way i keep myself in shape.

Fitzy's win will give him a new career high around 960, and more importantly, possibly a place in Steven's Top 25 table.

Yes, great to see Fitzy build on yesterday's big win smile.gif - he's now going to crack the top 1000 for the first time and today's win will put him on the GB top 25 table after the IW fortnight unless Matthew Short wins at least one round in Portugal this week or Marsalek beats Evo tomorrow - I haven't checked who's played more tournaments if that happens, but I assume it's Fitzy so James would edge him to GB no 25 if he went a round further.

And talking of James - that was some scoreline today! smile.gif

To my it puzzles me why people travel the country to watch a Davis Cup match for about £50 quid for five matches when you can watch a futures first round for free in you backyard with what is probably three times the entertainment with all the eccentricities, drama and tears.

Unfortunately, work gets in the way sometimes .............
If I'd not been working on Monday/Tuesday then a stopover in Tipton would have made great sense since I went home from Bolton  to Heathrow via the M6/M42.  Sadly, I had to zoom by but I hope to catch up on a few events over the next few weeks.

I've been to Tipton (and many other  Futures/Challengers in the UK) and had great fun following 6 or 7 matches at the same time!
(and met Wolfie ......... evileye).

P.S. -
DC, cheering on the GB lads, was only £33 for 3days!

P.P.S. Am delighted that Fitzy has hit the top 1000 - that's great news!

smile

Matthew Short's win in Loulé yesterday means that he and Fitzy will both be on 8 points from 13 events played as things stand at the moment, so if neither win today, it'll come down the "most points from a single event (and if equal, the next most points)" tiebreak, in which case Fitzy has 3-2-1-1-1, which would edge Short's 3-1-1-1-1-1.

Hopefully they'll both win matches today and none of this will be relevant smile.gif
