Katie's section of the draw:

(7)Katie O'Brien (GBR) v Audrey Bergot (FRA)
(wc)Florence Haring (FRA) v Q/LL

Bergot is a right douleur dans le cul, on a Brit-bash streak including a win against Katie last year, and victory over Mel last week.

Mel lost 2 and 3, Naomi won in 3 and faces 2nd seed Cetkovska tomorrow. Match stats available at french federation if anyone's interested.

Naomi's serve was clearly working well (15 aces) and she overcame the disappointment of not closing out the match in 2 (2 match points in set 2) for a good win

Katie plays first (10am GMT) and Naomi third tomorrow

Doubles R1

Mikadze/Shapatava (GEO) v O'Brien/Ungur (GBR/ROU)
Domachowska/Savinykh (POL/RUS) v Laine/South (FIN/GBR)

No comment required for that result, maybe Katie should permanently take up the role of fantasy football manager.

Didn't see that one coming, hopefully no fluke.

Katie lost to bergot by the same score last year, and will be ranked below her as of monday by about 30spots. Not a shock at all (unfortunately)

Great job Naomi!

But isn't that a reflection of how we rate her current level of form. Easily beaten by a competent professional but who will never be a top 100 let alone top 150 player.

Spot on phil. It takes more than hours in the gym and on the practice court to get out a rut, hopefully Katie can find the answer.

I am worried the loss to Minella will hurt longer and deeper, when it so easily could have been the turning point to gettig back on track.

Hopefully Sutton, which she won in 09 can bring some success.

Great win for Naomi, and it looks like the courts in Grenoble must be quick and suit her serve (another 12 aces and good first serve percentage). Nicked the first set, when Cetkovska had 9 breakpoints, all saved, to Naomi's 1
