Week 46 - Challenger (€106,500) - Bratislava, Slovakia - Hard

L32: (SE) James Ward WR 217 v Qualifier

(3) Adrian Mannarino (FRA) WR 97 and (7) Blaz Kavcic (SLO) WR 109 are the seeds in Wardy's quarter. Interesting that he took an SE here when he had scraped into Salzburg, though perhaps he didn't know about that when the SE was being sorted out.

Should be a decent chance to get an extra 9 points on the board then at least! Ryan Harrison is in qualifying.

I think it makes a lot of sense to come here rather than Salzburg as being a bigger Challenger there are more points on offer, especially as Ward has got a nice draw (assuming he avoids Ryan Harrison). Potentially another decent week as he is probably in the nicest quarter of the draw

(3) Colin Fleming & Jamie Murray v Dominic Hrbaty & Andrej Martin (SVK/SVK)
(4) Jordan Kerr & Ken Skupski v Travis Parrot & Filip Polasek (USA/SVK)

Is this Hrbaty's last tournament?

L32: (SE) James Ward WR 217 v (Q) Miloslav Mecir (SVK) WR 330

Mecir beat Feaver, Pritchard & Slabba but lost to Jamie B in GB Futures last month. Even on his home soil, Wardy should have too much for him, I'd hope.

7th game dropped, so the lead in the second set cut to 4-2*, but they recover the break to restore their three-game advantage & serve for the match at *5-2. smile
