Peter has used this week's rankings (he's good like that) but the seedings were based on last week's rankings, when there was a slightly bigger gap between them - 5 whole places. LOL
Spears was 266, (8) Giorgi 267 and Johanna 271.
It must be very annoying just missing out on a seeding and then getting drawn against a seed. Then again, if it's one of the seeds you just missed out to (rather than one of the top seeds, which would be really annoying!), there should be a good chance of beating a player ranked only a couple of places higher and then she's in as good a position as if she'd been seeded in the first place.

Disappointing loss for JoKo 6-4 6-3. She doesn't seem to like the second half of the year, but at least she is picking up some points this year. Now a remote chance she will gain enough points to make Aussie open qualies. It'll all change next year when she officially becomes a Brit.

Yes, as you say at least she is picking up some points fairly regularly and actually if you take out the Raleigh week ( OK, quite a big lump of points to take out ) she is really doing pretty much as well as the first half of the year ( 71 points first 6 months to 58 last 4 months plus 70 for the Raleigh 50K title in May ). I guess though it would have been nice for her to kick on just a bit more than she has.
Anyway, nothing to defend until one point at the end of January so hopefully she can have a good end to the year and in the not too distant future be another one knocking on the door of the top 200.
