Week 40 - ITF ($25K) - Port Pirie, Australia - Hard

L32: (3) Mel South WR 282 v Qualifier
L32: (2) Naomi Cavaday WR 206 v Qualifier

Both Brits are in the same half of the draw with (6) Tammi Patterson (AUS) WR 356 and (5) Remi Tezuka (JPN) WR 296 the other seeds in their quarters. The top seed is Arina Rodionova (RUS) WR 187 - the one who still plays for Russia, not the stronger Australian one, who is playing at the CWG.

Thanks for the clarifying comment about which Rodionova it is. (Might it be worth changing the nationality to match the comment?)

Semis minimum so we get at least one finalist! Come on girls - they don't like it up them!

I think she is called Arina. It would be a bit confusing if their parents called both their daughters Anastasia!

Great draw for Cav there. Panoho was destroyed by Rogowska a couple of weeks ago and is very inexperienced. Would be surprised if she gets more than six games.

Mel has a nice draw there too. Certainly a good opportunity to progress.

Ugly for Cav in the first set, but much better in second.
This trip seems to have been very good for Mel, gaining more and more confidence as each match goes by.
