It's 1 point for winning QR1, 4 for winning QR2 and 6 for qualifying here, so opportunities to pick up ranking points start right away.

Amanda Elliott's 4 points will get her back into the GB top 25 and Yasmin Clarke's 1 point will get her back on the ranking list.

Unfortunately a tough draw for Heather who is our best hope, Lisicki R2 awaits.

An 'in form' Heather could beat Lisicki.

Yes, Heather's draw is certainly not great. Toughish looking task in Round 1 and then very likely Lisicki if she gets through.  At least it wasn't Lisicki in Round 1 !

There is though I suggest some hope in the respective forms. The Turkish girl has managed to move into the top 200 this year without apparently beating a single person in the top 200, which is a good trick if you can manage it.  Heather has I make it 10 victories against top 200 players this year. And Lisicki isn't exactly having a great season with 4 wins all year and 4 months out from the end of March to the beginning of August. Although most of her defeats have been to fairly high ranked players she did lose last week in Quebec 6 - 4  6 - 2 to Alexa Glatch, i.e. much easier than Glatch had beaten Anne K in the final qualifying round.  Lisicki is a class act when in form, but probably now is far from the worst time to potentially meet her.  I wouldn't make Heather favourite at all in a meeting, but agree with Julia that an in-form Heather could cause an upset.

Interesting little part of the draw with Naomi B playing Emily and winners playing the winners of Lisa v the no 7 seed. Naomi could certainly do with the points to push her latest CH further up before she has the end of year big points to come off.

As decent a draw as one could hope for Tara and Anna.  Now just have to really give it their best shots and see what happens.

Hard luck, by the way, Nicola George on what looks a very good performance against the q1 seed. Hogenkamp, who has some decent recent form including winning a 25K in Kazakhstan.

I know this probably isn't the right thread, but Laura is splitting with her coach Bok at the end of the season. Bok doesn't want to commit to a heavier schedule, I think he will be a father shortly so that may be the reason. Probably not the worst thing as someone with fresh ideas at this stage of her career etc., might not be a bad idea.

Perhaps a blessing in disguise?
I remember Pethchey parting with Murray at a similar age (relative boys to girls age with regards to development) and Brad took him to the next level.
Fresh eyes, fresh approach.

Thanks for the information and link, Phil.  Yes, does seem amicable enough and as you say fresh ideas at this stage quite possibly not a bad thing anyway.

I take Maza's general point although Andy was in fact much further along in age and development / achievement, even adjusting for earlier girl's development.

Oh, and yes, not the right thread  smile    Maybe would have been best in a fresh one.

Not impressed with the lack of updates from tournament organisers, first matches I believe started at 10.30 or so, so no excuses to have at least have given us some results. Poor poor.
