Wardy, Eaton and Goodall are in qualifying here and both in the same section. Unfortunately so is Rieschick
[2] James WARD (GBR) vs [WC] Sirawit YUMUANG (THA) Chris EATON (GBR) vs [WC] Adirek KHUNDARNPINITVON (THA) Sebastian RIESCHICK (GER) vs Hiroki KONDO (JPN) Joshua GOODALL (GBR) vs [8] Young-Jun KIM (KOR)
QR1: James Ward WR 241 vs. Sirawit Yumuang (THA) WR UNR QR1: Chris Eaton WR 524 vs. Adirek Khundarnpinitvon (THA) WR UNR QR1: Josh Goodall WR 338 vs. Young-Jun Kim (KOR) WR 331
Toss up really who qualifies from this, Hopefully it will be James but it's anyones guess
That's tremendous, all of them in the same section and along with quite possibly the most on form player in the qualifiers ( certainly non seed )
Seeing Rieschick there I was thinking looks as if he lost then, so maybe gone off the boil. But I see that he only lost his semi final to the no 4 seed, Kravchuk (RUS) WR 141, 7 - 6 6 - 7 6 - 3
So at least 2 of the Brits getting nout ranking points this week, possibly all 3. Really hope one gets through to the main draw though and best hope must be Wardy.

Eaton and Ward to win 1st matches. Goodall, maybe depending on how hes actually playing at the moment.
Eaton vs Ward will be close. Eaton leads head to head 2-1 if we count the Davis Cup playoff. I think Chris could take it looking at his result against Rieschick last week, just edged out.
Goodall and Eaton prob play dubs again, Ward if he makes cut?
Shame about Goodall losing, after winning the second it looks like he couldnt press on to win it in 3.
Both convincing wins for Wardy and Eaton. Will be close, I think Eaton could scrape it, if he can rush Ward's big swings on his groundstrokes then he can dominate most points, but we'll see. I want Eaton to win of course but i think Ward will scrape it.
Well played Wardy, if I had to chose one of the matches for him to win it would have been last week where an additional 14 points were on offer compared to 3 for this win this week, but hopefully this will just be the start of things for this week
Ruben is definatly beatable though, he hasnt done anything lately apart from winning a futures in spain in June
Also, does anyone else think the cut here is very high for the lowest level challenger in Asia?

Yes I know, trust the German to win when it mattered most. Still, nothing more that could have been done about last week, and today's win was a good one over an in form (if possibly running out of steam) player.
I agree that for a low level Asian Challenger, the field does seem very strong here - perhaps because there were two Challengers here in a row with an ATP to follow?

I think that has a fair amount to do with it, signing up you know you will be able to play for 3 weeks, as opposed to a trip to the depths of Russia for a week. Also I wonder if it can be a result of low cuts in recent years, so everyone has the same idea to sign up for a chance at some points, thus pushing the cut up
Either way, Wardy is in the field now with 3 points in the bag already and I would say not a bad draw either if he wins its the 8th seed in the second round. Actually I will go out on a limb now and say I would be slighty disapointed if he doesnt win that first round match.
Good win - but of course only worth anything if he can follow it up
Bemelmans will be a tough match but one thing that could work in his favour is that the Belgian has to commute from Australia where he has been in DC action
