doubt Boggo will make the Mons cut, so will probably end up in the qualies

what about France F17 Count? It's a 15+hospitality event, quite a few points on offer

it would take a big shift in Boggo's style to move to a futures to be honest. I've mentioned the big futures to him in the past, a good place to pick up points, but when was the last time he played a futures? even when he dropped to 300 ish he stuck to challengers.

i will mention this to him tho.

As I'm sure you know, Count, it was more than 6 years ago - Edinburgh 2004 on clay, when he beat Gael Monfils in R1 (revenge for losing to him in the Bournemouth Final the previous week) and lost to Santiago Ventura in the QFs. The only Future he ever won was Nottingham 2002 on carpet I think.

Well i think in this case it makes sense to play futures, usually he doesn't becos

1. the rewards are too low
2. he can get into challengers anyway

in this case this doesn't apply for either, plus it is a local futures so the travelling money doesn't come that much into it. hopefully it is slightly weakened by people playing Mons/Mons qualies/Spain F36 too

Of course Boggo had possibly his biggest challenger result here in 06 when he made the final, might make him reluctant to miss it...

had a little chat with alex about this. seems like he will stick to Challenegers/ATPQ for the rest of the year, but if he cant get his ranking back where it needs to be then he might have to look at futures next year. he knows this has probably been his worst year for a long time, but he's got a lot of events coming up at the end of the season, so if he can get a run going it would be nice.

I've always thought that Boggo is way too rigid with this thing. Obviously it is admirable that he wants to play at a higher level all the time, but I don't think it will hurt to play a Futures or two a year.

It's amazing, how much good winning five matches in a week can do to to your game.

i agree with you Salmon, but i can slo see that if Alex for whatever reasn doesnt feel like playing a futures but goes there and his motivation is off and he's not at his best then a early loss may do more harm than good.

the funny thing with alex is he can produce a run from nowhere, we've seen it before many times.

Don't forget it isn't only the points and prize money that is dispiriting, the overall tournament organisation of Future events usually leave a lot to be desired except perhaps a few of the USA and the occasional UAE ones.

Boggo 19th alt for Mons, Baker 2nd alt at Sacremento

Can't see Wardy anywhere

I'm surprised that I am not seeing Coxy's name on the Sacramento entry list. Although that doesn't stop him from taking part in qualies, I suppose. Alternately, it could mean that he's going there for the Futures in October, which would be a bit pointless in my opinion.

Ignatik, Desein and Kuznetsov are playing the french future so Boggo now 16 out
