FQR: (q1) Alex Slabinsky WR 551 beat Jan Serkadowski (POL) UNR by 3 & 0 smile.gif
FQR: (q2) Ben Pritchard WR 1151 beat Pawel Kur (POL) UNR by 3 & 2 smile.gif

Switching to 23 Aug rankings:

L32: Andrew Gregory WR 870 v (Q) Maciej Szmyrgala (POL) WR 1683
L32: (5) Alex Slabinsky WR 548 v Mateusz Szmigiel (POL) WR 879
L32: (Q) Ben Pritchard WR 1155 v (6) Jiri Skoloudik (CZE) WR 549
L32: (2) Dan Cox WR 481 v Blazej Koniusz (POL) WR 626

Dan is the only non-Pole in his quarter. Andrew looks to have an even better chance of gaining his first ATP point as a Brit, though last week suggests we shouldn't take anything for granted - the winner of his match plays the winner of Slabba's match, with top seed Dawid Olejniczak WR 415 likely to await in the QFs.

Why do I have a horrible feeling the Poles (and Czech) are going to have a Brit bash over the next couple of days?

Not in the doubles, they didn't:

R1:  Andrew Gregory & Nicolas Meister (USA) UNR defeated Hubert Gasiorek & Marek Mrozek (POL/POL) UNR by 1-6 7-6(5) [10-5] (5)

Quite a tussle! wink God alone knows what the after the MTB score "(5)" means, but it appears in both the ATP & the ITF draw sheets...! confuse

QF:  Andrew Gregory & Nicolas Meister (USA) UNR vs Bartosz Sawicki & Maciej Smola (POL/POL) UNR

For the record, their Polish QF opponents took out the fourth seeds, Varga & Zhyrmont (HUN/BLR - WR 1687), today by 7-6(6) 0-6 [10-8], so they're obviously not to be underestimated.

Sadly, Andrew Gregory's 'now I've become a Brit' jinx seems to be getting worse. disbelief I guess Smyrgala's score against Slabba tomorrow will give us more of an idea if he's a bit ofa 'ringer' with a ranking that low. Bad news for Dan Cox too cry.gif but Ben Pritchard took full advantage of his luck after (6) Skoloudik pulled out. smile.gif

L32: Andrew Gregory WR 870 lost to (Q) Maciej Szmyrgala (POL) WR 1683 by 2 & 2 bleh
L32: (5) Alex Slabinsky WR 548 beat Mateusz Szmigiel (POL) WR 879 by 2 & 1 smile.gif
L32: (Q) Ben Pritchard WR 1155 beat (LL) Jan Serkadowski (POL) UNR by 0 & 2 smile.gif
L32: (2) Dan Cox WR 481 lost to (8) Blazej Koniusz (POL) WR 626 by 6-4 4-6 6-4 bleh

Yes, the drawsheet really does say Koniusz was promoted to a seeding but not moved in the draw confusehttp://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/714/mds.pdf

L16: (5) Alex Slabinsky WR 548 v (Q) Maciej Szmyrgala (POL) WR 1683
L16: (Q) Ben Pritchard WR 1155 v Michal Konecny (CZE) WR 797

Extremely peculiar  disbelief.gif   Can only imagine was Cox vs Koniusz scheduled early on today, maybe too late to move Koniusz when the original 8th seed withdrew ?

I guess Ben Pritchard was the one to benefit, meeting a lucky loser instead of a seed.

If they had managed to move Koniusz, Dan would have had that LL that Ben just about coped with followed by an unranked Polish WC.

Dan not having much luck at the moment  cry.gif

Really useful, making someone a seed and then not moving him. I bet that Koniusz was thrilled to have the honour of having a number in parenthesis next to his name.

Dumb scheduling as usual for Coxy. Should have gone to North America, but there wasn't much option in Europe, I guess.

L16: (Q) Ben Pritchard WR 1155 lost to Michal Konecny (CZE) WR 797 by 4 & 0 cry.gif

QF: (5/Q) Alex Slabinsky WR 548 v (1) Dawid Olejniczak (POL) WR 415 (CH 185 in Aug 2008) or (WC) Maciej Smola (POL) UNR

The Olejniczak v Smola score is shown as 1 set all on the Zakonczone mecze page at http://www.pozbrukopen.pl/index2.php?str=wyniki, but zakonczone mecze means completed matches, which may mean that someone retired at the end of the 2nd set.

Slabba's H2H with Olejniczak is 0-2, 5&4 in Glasgow in 2006 and 6&4 in Jersey in 2008, which the Pole went on to win.

In the Draw(Drabinki) tab of the page (http://www.pozbrukopen.pl/index2.php?str=wyniki) you quote it has Maciej Smola  in the Quarter Final, despite not putting a winner of the last 16 contest

Turns out Olejniczak won 3-6 7-6(2) 6-2, so:

QF: (5/Q) Alex Slabinsky WR 548 v (1) Dawid Olejniczak (POL) WR 415

Slabba's H2H with Olejniczak is 0-2, 5&4 in Glasgow in 2006 and 6&4 in Jersey in 2008, which the Pole went on to win.

Slabba comes up trumps beating Olejniczak 6-4 6-4 to reach the SF. clap.gif

Andrew Gregory & the US Meister, however, lost their doubles.cry
