Week 29 Futures - Ireland F1 ($15k) - Dublin - Carpet

QR1: Jarryd Bant UNR v Federico Raffo (URU) UNR
QR1: Connor Schelling-Tisza UNR v Fabio Molle (IRL) UNR
QR1: Stefan Sterland-Markovic UNR v (wc) Roman Grogan (IRL) UNR

FQR: Bant or Raffo v (q3) Xander Spong (NED) WR 1180
FQR: (q4) Philip Barlow WR 1223 v Schelling-Tisza or Molle
FQR: Sterland-Markovic or Grogan v (q6) Emanuele Molina (ITA) WR 1272

Josh Goodall (likely to be one ofthe top two seeds), Dan Cox and Burnham Arlidge are DAs here - quite surprising there aren't more Brits, but maybe they don't think it's worth going over for one week when there is another Futures event in the UK the week after. Points should be much easier to come by in Ireland though!

Thank goodness that they've moved the Irish tournaments away from the British grass season. It was bad for both Irish and British players.

Scratch that. They seem to have only one Futures this year instead of two Futures and a Challenger. hmm

It's not a very strong field at all for a $15k. Only 3 players in the top 500 (as of when the entry list was puplished). On paper Goodall must be clear favourite.

Sounds like a plan.

Now watch them get drawn in the same half.

I think Dan will be seeded. He was seventh on the list when it first came out.

Ha but with a 545 ranking.  He is WR 787 in the current rankings list which will presumably be the one used for seedings.  Just really depends on who remains in and what their current ranking is.

From what I've seen and heard about him he seems just genuinely love competing, and is someone who will do his best to absolutely maximise his talent. If he trains as hard as I imagine he does, that is bound to have a good effect on his results.

He seems to be more of a doubles player, he's entered here with the Zimbabwean.

he has had a lot of success in doubles at junior level, wouldn't surprise me to see him specialise in that once he reaches the seniors...maybe the sort of player for whom a spell on the US college scene might be good?
