Week 29 Challenger (€30K+H) - Recanati, Italy (hard)

Daniel Smethurst is top seed in qualifying here. The other seed in his section is 8th seed and WR 856 Roberto Marcora. Should be 3 points in the bag for Smethurst but slip ups happen.

Plays Matteo Crosti in his 1st match

(edited thread title to include prize money and change clay to hard)

Appears to be hard, although I see that Italy has another Challenger going on next week which is on clay.

So Italy has two in the same week and GB has how many this whole year  ?

Dan must've won as he's on the oop tomorrow against Bettini, but no score yet.

Delgo has turned up here with his erstwhile partner, Zovko.smile Number 1 seeds by many a mile, but we all know that can mean very little in doubles.wink

L16: Jamie Delgado & Lovro Zovko (GBR/CRO) v Roko Karanusic & Goran Tosic (CRO/MNE)

Dan won and will play Bastl in final round.

Jamie D, Dominic Inglot and Flemski are all top seeds in their doubles this week!

Bastl is in pretty horrible shape at the moment, so Dan should really come through this.

PS I'm not sure how Capone is ranked is now ranked 684, he was pretty bad at the Nottingham futures last year. He must have tanked I guess, although not sure what his doubles partner thought about that as he was just as bad in that.

Qualifiers play either:

Riccardo Ghedin (ITA), with (3) Hernych the seed in R2
(5) Igor Sijsling (NED)
Leonardo Tavares (POR), with (7) Bemelmans (BEL) the seed in R2, or
(2) Stephane Bohli (SUI).

please.gif Tavares...although Ghedin would be an OK draw too.

Good lord, this must be a first for me, I'm posting a result before anyone else!

Dan lost in 3 to Bastl in the FQR ...
