Phew! smile.gif

They are playing the dead 5th rubber despite not needing to btw. Stu Fraser suggested Rog Draper to play Ghorbel smile.gif

So for the second tie in a row, we beat a team starting TU who were DC ranked 81 before the tie. (as @whatasneeze added, oddly turkeys go "ghourbel ghourbel" too - she should be posting here!)

This win gives us 80 DC ranking points, which is lucky since of the 472.5 points we had before the tie, 442.5 are due to drop off by the end of September. Even 110 points (which is what we will have at the end of September) is less than either Hong Kong or the Netherland Antilles have at the moment ...

Luxembourg are 2-1 up and Müller leads Niland by 2 sets and 3-2 in the 4th rubber, so it's looking like a home tie v Luxembourg in July.

Muller beats Niland 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to give Luxembourg a 3-1 win over Ireland which means we will play them at home in July

Jamie Baker leads Slim Hamza by 4-1 in the dead rubber

Jamie takes the first set 6-1 (at least this is proving that we needn't have panicked if it had gone to a live 5th rubber)!

I'm not sure that's strictly true.  Jamie's playing with the pressure off.  There's no knowing how he'd have responded, had he had to shoulder the responsibility of winning the rubber to win the tie, even against a  lower-ranked opponent, as witness, Dino's battle to overcome Jaziri! wink

Finally got there after a fewmoments. Well done James for hanging in and toughing out the 5th set. to all who took part and made the tie a welcome success. (As welcome as the result from the cricketing lads nod.gif)

Yes, but the other Tunisians are of quite a different calibre to Jaziri, or rather non calibre.

Jamie was never losing any deciding rubber  ( and no I didn't want to see that proved ! )
