Mahut vs Isner

Is anyone else watching the insanity on Court 18?

35-34 atm in the final set, nearly 7 hours and Isner one short of Karlovic's most aces record.

Time to flip a coin, me thinks!

Maybe at 60-60, they should play a tie-break?

Raise the net 6 inches.

Been watching it since the football finished. Mahut hasn't had a single break point in the set, in fact just 1 the whole match. Isner had 15-40 at I think 34-33 and had a chance to win the first match point but Mahut held. Apparently he also had a mp at 10-9 which was saved by an ace.

He did. At this rate Mahut will also beat the previous record for aces. What time is sunset?

I love the way Isner is still scheduled next on court 10 to play his first round mens doubles match.

So are there any records (except those with shortest, fastest or quickest in the name) left for them to break?

EDIT: I suspect they are a long way short of most breakpoints!

Never mind the doubles match. Doesn't he realise Steven's waiting for the match to finish so that he can complete the BOTB round 1 results and summary.

I don't think so, the latest one they broke was total number of games at Wimbledon which had stood from before tie-breaks were introduced. The longest match ever in terms of games would be next I guess, but seeing as it is already the longest in terms of time ever I would suspect that's been beaten too.

That went a while ago - the 112 at Wimbledon was also the longest overall.

@katiejobrien Whilst this 5th set has been on I've watched the entire England match and been for a good run round the Common....& it's still not over.

And the Guardian live blog from about 4pm onwards is a true literary masterpiece!

All the 4s,  44  -  44

Guess one of them will have most aces in the tournament even if the winner loses in round 2 !

Staying at work to watch the end of this at 5:30 was a bad move...

They have cancelled Long John Isner's doubles match for today - no stamina! blankstare.gif
