In truth, I'm not that excited about the match up, and probably won't be going. The teams haven't yet been named, but even so I'm leaning towards giving it a miss... despite it being a home tie and so close to where I live! However, I do feel kind of bad about it though because I've noticed that other people feel much the same as me and I'm wondering if the tie is going to be played with all empty seats! That wouldn't really create a rousing Davis Cup atmosphere, would it? I hope there is still good support.

I remember when the venue for the Ukraine tie was chosen according to Andy's preference. *shakes head* What a first grade mistake that was. Has no one in the LTA heard of the adage "in a team, you're only as strong as the weakest man?" Well it applies to DC teams in tennis! The surface ought to be chosen to the preferences of the weakest man - not what Andy wants! Andy can damn well make do on any surface, let's face it!

you can subscribe to Eurosport player - I think I did it previously for just a month but can't quite remember as I've subscribed to various livestreams in the past few years. Cheaper than a ticket, especially if you don't live in Eastbourne but they might only show parts of the tie, of course, if they have the same attitude as the BBC.
Trouble is Eastbourne was chosen when Lloydy was still in charge: for him, the only surface worth mentioning is grarsse. Suits all the British players who all serve and volley, dontcherknow.
Poor Leon Smith has been dumped with this situation.
*groan* Well I hope Leon Smith pays attention and if we ever get a home tie in future - for goodness sakes, choose the surface that suits our weakest team members! Somebody needs to make the sane choices.

Don't know if you were watching at the time but during the Queens coverage JL actually said he didn't make the decision. Greg was alongside him in studio and agreed that it was a poor choice, but even working with the LTA he wasn't too sure who actually made the choice. Greg mentioned a hardcourt in Nottingham, but neither were pleased about Eastbourne being the venue.
