Week 20 - ITF ($25K) - Karuizawa, Japan - carpet

R1: Q AOYAMA, Shuko (JPN) WR 500 v 5 BROADY, Naomi (GBR) WR 271

At last Naomi receives a decent draw. Lets hope she can take advantage of it.

Just noticed that this is Carpet rather than Hard.

I'm going to watch Nottingham. Would love to see Naomi play.

Not good. Been a horrible trip to the far east. Hopefully she can recharge her batteries and perform much better back on the grass.

I reckon to add a bit of variety, they should play a tournament on actual carpet. I'm sure the LTA have plenty of shag pile at their headquarters.

Carpet's a fantastic surface, really don't understand why more tournies aren't on it. Though all the sand in your shoes is quite annoying...love the sliding tho!

As I'm sure Count will testify too there's more than enough of it lying around at Queens...
