Do you not have to sign-in to play qualifying? SO he signed in and pulled out?

He might have hurt himself on the way to the court...

He may not have wanted to play against and lose to a friend...

He might have arrived at the court late...

Or he might be an idiot. Which would cover all of the above anyway.

The Mysterious case of the 2 Darryl Hales

One is American and one is British.

The British one is coached by the American one.

The American one is (I guess) the British one's dad.

Both withdraw from here without playing a match.

But, both are back next week in USA F11.  Yay.

Darryl HALE (GBR)

Darryl HALE (USA)

Darryl Hale Sr. has a career going back to 1991 (in doubles).  He last played in 2000.
He has a 0/10 record at singles, though he once won a doubles match in the Ivory Coast.  He has also played two years in Wimbledon doubles qualifying (in '92 & '93)

So, did both of the Darryl Hale's hurt themselves on the way to the court? Did both not want to play against a friend? Did they arrive late on separate days (Darryl Sr. had a bye to R2)?  Or is it a case of option 4.  Ooh, conspiracy theories...
