Laura must've sneaked a MD spot.

She suggests she should have won 0 & 0 but is a bit under the weather and says that the match to decide her next opponent was a good battle, unfinished when she left.

Not a bad draw given that Albanese hasn't won a match since November last year. Probably in the easiest quarter of the draw.

Laura is also teaming up with the number one seed in the singles Yakimova in the doubles.

Nic Slater lost 6-4 6-1. cry

A little bit too much info maybe...

"2-0 up with a bunch of chances for 3-0 and then at 3-1 unimaginable amount of points for 4-1. freaking pissed! lost 4 and 1 coz went into self destruct...anyone who says girls have the choice of controlling their emotions during a certain time of month clearly arent girls!uugh! "

Yes I wondered that as well. Not sure how much of an excuse that is.

She's quite well reknowned for being pretty stroppy on court.

First round of the doubles:

(2) Laura Robson & Anastasia Yakimova (BLR) WR 306 vs Gail Brodsky & Tetiana Luzhanska (USA/UKR) WR 786

A nice easy ( pray.gif ) opener for the girls! wink

Laura won with a strange scoreline. Usually she loses matches after winning the first set.
0-6 6-0 6-3.

Got to be happy with the win but it would be interesting to know what happened between the end of the first set and the beginning of the second.

I think she must've remembered she's left handed!

R2: ROBSON, Laura (GBR) 317 v MOLINERO, Florencia (ARG) 307

Robson's victim in R1 beat Molinero twice last year. Also Georgie Stoop beat Molinero in February and last July. Laura will need to avoid a repeat of her first set today though.

Difficult to tell how a good a win that was considering her opponent was on a 10 match losing streak, but pleased for Laura to win her first match since her lay-off.

Draw now opened up with both seeds gone from her quarter.

Link to a local newspaper report which confirms Laura had a cast on her left wrist for more than a month and quotes her as being nervous during her match.

Also shows a picture of her playing without any wrist strapping which is a good sign.
