Sean Thornley is playing doubles with Michael Leong (SOL =, apparently, the Solomon Islands!):

R1:  Sean Thornley & Michael Leong (SOL) WR 1464 vs Peter Aarts & Christopher Racz (USA/USA) WR 2731

I think they must've won today.  There are no results posted on either the ATP or the ITF site, but they're down to play the fourth seeds in the QF tomorrow:

QF:  (4) Nikolaus Moser & Max Raditschnigg (AUT/AUT) WR 1028 vs Sean Thornley & Michael Leong (SOL) WR 1464

Possibly winnable... pray.gif

Well done to Sean, a good win  smile

It's good to see it is still possible to be a British male and win a singles ranking point.

Great win for Sean biggrin :

R1:  Myles Blake WR 1147 lost to (7) Daniel Yoo (KOR) WR 646 by 1-6 retired cry
R1:  Sean Thornley WR 778 defeated (5) Borut Puc (SLO) WR 607 by 7-6(3) 6-3 w00t.gif

There's something weird going on in a couple of other matches in the bottom half of the draw:

R1:  (Q) Peng Gao (CHN) WR 1087 defeated/lost to (3) Toshihide Matsui (JPN) by 4-6 7-5 4-2 "played & abandoned"
R1:  Roman Borvanov (MDA) WR 766 defeated/lost to (2) Fabrice Martin (FRA) WR 569 by 3-4 "played & abandoned"

In neither instance does the ITF site name the winner, though one assumes the more highly ranked player came through...! confuse

Maybe re "abandoned" they really mean "suspended" due to light ot whatever.

They won by 4 & 2 & were due to play their QF today, but the ITF site has been updated only with yesterday's results & that involving the second seeds today! confuse

Thornley for DC!

...a little premature, maybe wink. Still, really good win, hopefully he can kick on from here.

Yes, it ends a 2-week ATP ranking point drought (since the last Brit went out in Jersey - I'm not counting Muzza's points for Miami that he scored just for turning up) - it had been beginning to look like we'd get no point in weeks 13 or 14.
