Week 13 Futures - USA F8 ($15k) - Mobile AL

Josh Milton was 2nd Alt here at the last update and is ranked higher than the top seeds in qualifying so is likely to have ended up as a DA.

Yes, and just when we thought it couldn't get any worse:

L32: Josh Milton WR 557 v (1) John Millman (AUS) WR 263

Still, Meatball took a set off Millman in Bath and both Jamie B and the Wardinator have beaten him twice ...

His luck didn't improve in the doubles, either:

R1:  Tim Bradshaw & Josh Milton WR 1653 vs (2) Ashwin Kumar & Vasek Pospisil (USA/CAN) WR 631 bleh

But Josh is not going to join the select band of Millman-conquerors this time round:  he lost by 2 & 0. cry

The doubles was much closer:  he & Tim Bradshaw lost that by 6-4 5-7 [8-10]. bleh

Poor from Milts, hoped he was going to build on a decent week at Jersey but back to more mediocrity. Looks like another good grass season is required to keep him in the top 600, not to push in the top 400 and beyond.

Oh, pity.  It was a very tough draw but clearly Josh would have hoped for a bit more than that.

Anyway, that kind kind of puts the tin lid on not the most epic last week in GB men's singles tennis history   ashamed.gif

Probably the worse week ever I expect, doubt there have been many weeks were less than 2 games have been won in any main draw anywhere while there is a full selection of Futures and Challengers and an ATP on as well.

Yes, a dreadful week, but if it's any consolation (it isn't, obviously) only Muzza picked up any ranking points in week 13 last year, when we also had just one other GB man in a singles main draw, Feaver in Egypt, and he went out in R1 too.

http://www.freewebs.com/britishtennis/gbtop25m/2009wk13.htm

However, Muzza did of course score 990 points than he did this year and the Brits collectively scored over 100 points more in Jersey than they did this year, so there are going to be some big ranking drops on Monday.
