I believe we may see the reappearance of Katie here after a long break by her standards. Hopefully trying to gain confidence before playing qualis of Miami the week after. The strength of the field given the players world rankings seems ridiculous for such a low grade of tournament so Katie will have to be in reasonable form to make progress here.

L32: (1) Katie O'Brien WR 100 v Sophie Ferguson (AUS)

Ferguson lost to Georgie Stoop last week, of course. Tatishvili, who beat Katie 2 & 4 in USO Q last year, or Hendler will await the winner.

Top half of the draw easier than the bottom and should if playing half decent make it to the quarters.

The Aus Open win has disguised what has been a very poor start to the year for her.

Just had a look and didn't realise that was her only win on the Tour so far this year with every loss except Jankovic against a player ranked around or below her.
