Normal service has resumed, with Robert losing to a player whose five other results on ITF are all losses - 0 & 1, 0 & 0, 3 & 2, 0 & 0, 1 & 1 - though seriously, I'd have thought he'd be a shoe-in to beat an opponent like that these days.

I think the other matches must have been rained off but I got these results from tenispain where there's no OoP yet and they're not up on the ATP site yet.

QR3: Matthew Short UNR v Jannick Lupescu (NED) UNR

Excellent win for Short against Tassart. Lupescu is a 6'2" tall 16-year-old who is unranked but has made short work of his first two opponents here. In Juniors, where he is ranked 36, he beat two Brits in Finals last year - Richard Gabb in Almere and Christopher Simpson in Heiveld, where in 2008 he beat Liam Broady 3 & 1 before losing to Tom Farquharson 3 & 2.

Short beat Lupescu 6-1, 6-4 then in the final qualifying round beat 8th seed Escobar 6-1, 6-2.

Great effort

In the main draw he plays the veteran Romanian Teodar Cracium
