Well worth a read (and I don't often say that about anything in the Daily Kneejerk!), here are just a few themes and comments I noticed:
- the thin margins between victory and defeat
- "As I understand it there is no complaint about how they picked the team or prepared it but there is frustration that none of our players below Andy Murray ever seems to be get inspired and produce that career-high performance which you see from other countries."
- sending players to academies overseas (please not Bolletieri's though!)
- If you were a betting man you would probably say that the job will eventually fall into the hands of Greg Rusedski by default, because nobody else will be prepared to take it on.(good point)
- Tim Henman is the LTA's preferred choice but he is not interested for a few years yet. I doubt Miles Maclagan, who Steven Martens told me is someone he wants to talk to about the job, will go for it right now but he would be a good choice. Martens could end up doing it himself until Henman feels he is ready to make a comeback into professional tennis.
No, no, no, please no!!
- JL the film buff
- the attractions of Vilnius and a reminder of where they have come from
- a plea for DC not to be allowed to die
- the barriers to entry in tennis in GB aren't as bad as they're made out to be and tennis is elitist in Lithuania anyway

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Petch wrote an article in yesterdays Telegraph but was clearly incensed by what Jamie had to say and so responded with a much harsher tone. Clearly the women's game has improved under this regime but how much of that is due to Nigel Sears. I also think the NTC is worth the investment but that is the end of the success story. Oh and there are apparently a much higher number of juniors playing competitive tennis. However if you look at our top juniors only George Morgan uses the full service that the LTA has to offer. Bambridge and Broady train in France and Golding is seriously thinking of making that step. On the girls side Robson trains in France and Watson in Florida.
good question. I do remember her apart from her name . She was european and he coached her for maybe 18 months but I'm pretty sure she is now retired. I would say it was about 8 years ago.
After scrolling through the archives the girl being referred to was Tina Pisnik who retired in 2005 but had a career high ranking of 29. He also coached Silvija Talaja for a short time who reached a highest ranking of 18 and retired in 2006.
