Anyone know why she didn't get an SE?

Anna couldn't have got a SE as she was out of Sutton by the time the Stockholm draw was made.

It's strange though, as she wasn't on the original draw, and should have been seeded.

That is odd. Who did she replace in the draw?

I've since found out that in order to qualify for an SE, Anna would've needed to have be playing (in Sutton), the same day qualifying started (rather than the draw being made), in Stockholm. As Stockholm qualifying didn't start until Sunday, and Anna was knocked out at Sutton on Saturday, then she didn't qualify for an SE.

A bit harsh though, having to pack your bags, travel and play the following day.

Re, her entry, she was always on the qualifying entry list so nobody needed to withdraw, but not ranked high enough to get a seeding.

She would have been seeded, but she wasn't because she wasn't originally in the draw.

I guess it was some kind of mix-up between Anna and the ITF, but not sure how she became an alternate.

No major setback for Anna as a weeks rest from singles is just what the doctor ordered after a busy start to the year.

But can she show this week that she can finish off a tournament. Something she hasn't done for a long long time.

2010 rules have appeared on the ITF women's site. The sign-in section has changed a little, but the key provision at issue is the same as last year. Even so, my guess is that the Swedish supervisor made a mistake and incorrectly excluded Anna even though she'd been signed in telephonically by Sutton, then tried to remedy it as best he could when he realised his mistake; either that, or the Sutton supervisor didn't call in time and Stockholm bent the rules on Anna's behalf.

12. SIGN-IN
a) Qualifying
The Qualifying Sign-in Deadline is at 18.00 hours local time at the site of the
Tournament on the day preceding the start of the Qualifying Draw.
All players must personally sign-in on-site with the ITF Supervisor.
Telephone sign-in is not accepted, except the ITF Supervisor/Referee at an
ITF sanctioned tournament in the preceding week, including a WTA Tour
tournament, may sign-in a player who has lost on either of the last two days
preceding the Qualifying competition. For $50,000, $75,000 and $100,000
tournaments a player who is travelling to the tournament may sign-in
personally with the ITF Supervisor by telephone.
In all circumstances of telephone sign-in, the player must be able to be on-site
and play her first round match by the end of the first round of Qualifying. On-
site Alternates may be signed-in for the Qualifying Draw of one tournament
only.

By the way, there are no feed-ups in 2010.
