Boggo has been drawn against Frenchman Thierry Ascione WR 152 in the first round. Ascione is unseeded and the winner could face 8th seed Dologpolov Jr. in the next round.

This year Ascione has lost to Bubka (wr 264 at the time) and Segreyev (wr 209) in straight sets in ATP qualifying

In Australia he beat Kravchuk fairly comprehensively before falling to Segreyev again in straights.

All in all a decent draw for Alex as he has a winnable 1st round match and then draws the 8th seed.

So here's hoping for a good run

Very strange team, not sure if you can get two more contrasting personalities than Boggo and Kudryavtsev. I guess Boggo and Safin does come pretty close though.

And was by all accounts the best player on the court by some distance in their first round match.

Maybe he only plays well with crazy Russians. Could be a good omen. And Kudryavtsev is a very good doubles player.

odd combo i agree, but a lot of the time the doubles parings are just made up on the spot with combined rankings that allow entry. Alex spoke with Jamie before about playign dubs here, but they have different goals for the week. If Alex loses in singles early, I cant see him still being in the dubs at a stage that would jeopardise him playing in Zagreb Qualies.

TA takes 1st set 63

when TA serving for it boggo hit 3 UE's to allow TA 40-0, and all 3 were after 2nd serves. needs to cut those out in the 2nd set if he is to stand any chance.
