Mandy Carreras has defeated Evtimova (last Spring in Turkey) but on clay the Bulgarian is a tough opponent, she has reached the final of a 50K on the surface, so if Dani were to win it would be an astounding result.
Scholl has not win a main draw match since August so might be short of confidence, but she has beaten Johanna before in the second round of qualies in Westende last summer 3-6 6-4 7-6(3). Hopefully Jo can reverse this result.
Last year Janowicz qualified for a couple of 10Ks in America, but otherwise has done little. She's ambidextrous and a 1991 girl...
Jade & Dani lost, Jo won, don't know scores. Jade was put on centre court, which might indicate the organisers think Janowicz has something special (could just be local girl though) - if not, a bit worrying. Though I cannot imagine clay being really suitable for Jade. Oh well, that's the last clay tournie, we'll see what happens.

Vickery is a 14-year-old who is at the Mouratoglou Academy and has just made it into the junior top 100. In her one previous senior outing last July, she qualfied for a 10K then reached the semi-finals. Scary prospect, but Georgie should have far too much for her at the moment. However, the winner is likely to face top seed Maret Ani in R2.
Still if you think that's a bad R2 draw, former (1999) Wimbledon semi-finalist Mirjana Lucic is here too and in R2 she could face double former grand slam semi-finalist Nicole Vaidisova, who is the no. 4 seed!

Playing Ani in the second round again will provide a good guide as to the progress that Georgie has made from last week. Should have way too much for Vickery.

I know women can achieve quite a lot by but pretty impressed that it apparently works for Konta against a fellow female in tennis.
Ah, I worked out she'd won from the OoP for tomorrow because the result wasn't up and put by score TBA, but put the last two words in > < brackets, forgetting that this forum suppresses anything in brackets like that (which is why I've reversed the order here)

Hmm, Jade's withdrawn from Rancho Mirage (which is rather strong for a 25k) - given that she's got a rest week the week before anyway, maybe she's hoping for a Sutton WC (she'd've made MD there, whereas she'd have to win through the 64 qualies field at RM)?

Jo won FQR 6-4 2-6 6-2. Possibly looks back to her best after along drought and has a decent draw against a fellow qualifier.
Georgie won 1st round after a blowout first set 1-6 6-2 6-3 and will not play Ani but will play Minella of Luxembourg. Hopefully Georgie can win a few rounds here now that the no1 seed is out.
Bit of a battle for Georgie there but good to see her get the win. Minella aranked 245 and presumably in pretty good form if she's beaten the no 1 seed, but guess better than the no 1 seed in really good form.
Good to see Jo get into MD and yes would be good to see her start putting a few wins together again, early days yet though.
