Great win by Bally and Olaru definitely preferable to such as Shiavone and Razzano from the qualifier options.

No 3 seed Wickmayer awaits in Round 2 for the Bally / Olaru winner, which may not be that bad, given Wickmayer just back from her having her drugs non reporting suspension lifted.

Seems I'm the only one still up here, though that's only because I've spent most of the last 18 hours asleep trying to sleep off a temperature of 102 (ugh!) and I doub't I'm going to manage to remain upright for more than a few minutes now either - great to see both Bally and Wardy in main draws and the HC win today smile.gif

As far as I can gather, Elena lost the first 4 games against Olaru despite a 1st serve % over 60. She broke in game 5 and then held for 2-4 but is now set points down at *2-5 15-40. And that's the set gone 2-6. cry

Olaru's 1st serve % is down to 36% for the 2nd set yet she is still winning 78% on 1st serve and 63% on 2nd serve

A bit disappointing, particularly the margin of defeat.  I thought Elena had a pretty good shot of getting through at least one round of the MD.

68% first serves in in the match, but main issue certainly seems to have been first serve points won at 13 / 30 ( 43 % ).  Never likely to win a match carrying that statistic.
