Surely Eden Silva is very lucky? Has she achieved anything? Cant help but feel very sorry for Liam and Naomi, but at least it seems she hasnt been hindered by their lack of help, and now that she is cleared of her injury her game may hopefully continue to climb.
I think that Miss Broady and her brother have declined financial aid from the LTA so were never going to be on the list. Of course unless the Broady family were going to patch up their differences with the LTA. Also I see that Jo Konta is not on the list and I am pretty sure she was on it for 2009. Maybe an indication that her proposed change in nationality has hit a hitch.
Tara's omission is a surprise. I also think that Joss Rae and Lisa Whybourn should be given more support . I think there are different levels of financial support and I know that Lisa will be helped with her travelling costs following her great late run to the season. Also surprised Natalie Beazant, Lucy Brown and Elisha Gabb are not on the list whereas Francesca and Danieka are . I'm not sure whether any of the 93 girls have shown enough promise to be given full support.
i would say the main benefit is higher travel funding. we all know how expensive travelling the world for these tournaments will be - you cant always fly on ryanair after all, and its hard to book cheaper return flights rather then 1 ways when you dont know when you'll be ready to come back.
i believe each player was assessed and given specific targets to achieve, mainly on rankings, for instance i think Boggo's target was 100 although i'm not 100%, i think there were other criteris based on fitness testing etc too.

Whatever has gone on in the past re Naomi Broady and the LTA's thoughts on her social networking activities and dedication it is absolutely clear that Naomi has recently worked really hard to get herself back fit, has produced results, and is currently a great prosect.
I don't know the ins and outs of whether and why the Broadys have declined financial aid from the LTA. But I am sure that the LTA are big enough, if they wanted to be, to bring about some sort of rapprochement
It is very clear from the Sponsors page on Naomi's website, http://www.naomibroady.co.uk/sponsors.html that she lacks sponsorship and funding leading into what is going to be a critical year in her development. She needs more funding now, and hopefully not so much in the future.
Note the quote at the bottom of the page :
"Naomi's progress has been remarkable considering she has is ( sic ) no financial backing. To get to the next level involves permanent travel to tournaments all over the world - Naomi needs sponsors now!"
It's probably a sense of pride why the Broady family don't want to accept any further LTA support. But it's a silly situation as the LTA have got the money and without sponsors support the Broady's would no doubt be in a very difficult situation.
Alex was set top 200 target by end of year by the LTA but as he was injured for 3-4 months he may get given a second chance. They originally said they were going to give him a chance to get back to his old ranking before looking at the contract again and they're going to have a chat about it in Jan - much could depend on next few weeks in Brazil !
These are the players that have seemingly been dropped:
Alex Bogdanovic Alex Slabinsky Chris Eaton Josh Goodall Anna Smith Jazzi Plews Tara Moore Amanda Elliott Anna Fitzpatrick Jocelyn Rae Johanna Konta Kyra Akinnibi
Im very shocked to see Joss and Tara dropped, surely thats very short-sighted on the LTA's behalf. Particularly harsh as both were hindered by injury. Anna Smith and Amanda deserve to be dropped as sadly neither have impressed. Cant understand why Goodall, Boggo or Alex were dropped, Eaton perhaps deserved it.
