Bally is seeded to reach the semi-finals which would see her virtually secure a top 100 spot for the first three months of 2010.

Her section is:

(8)Sacha Jones (NZL) v Q/LL
Tomoko Yonemura (JPN) v Kurumi Nara (JPN)

Suchanun Viratprasert (THA) v So-Jung Kim (KOR)
(3)Elena Baltacha (GBR) v Misaki Doi (JPN)

Unfortunately being seeded to get their and getting their is two different things.
A long way to go for just one tournament. I thought this was the sort of thing Katie did.
Anything less than a QF spot will be a wasted trip IMO.

Illness and injury have curtailed Bally's outings since September, and may have affected her selection of this tournament, at a time with few options, as a one-off attempt to push up the rankings before ending her season.

Doi is an improving teenager, who pushed Katie to 3 sets recently, but Bally's section looks manageable if she can find her September form.

Bally won 7-6(4) 3-6 6-1 didn't play well but after a very rough week class told in the third according to her coach.
