Emily Webley-Smith should be in the main draw, hoping to avoid Alicia Molik. In qualifying Jocelyn Rae and Danielle Brown receive first round byes. Danielle is seeded to meet Ellen Barry in final qualifying, who was ranked as high as 253 last year, but didn't play in the first half of the year, so her ranking plummeted. She hasn't returned to that sort of form yet though.

Why why why is Joss playing when she is clearly not 100 % fit if you had seen her at Sunderland only 12 days ago you could see she needed some recovery time. It may only be a niggle but playing through an injury IMO at her stage of her career is clearly daft. Enough said.
Hmm perhaps an error on the behalf of Joss, maybe she should have waited until next week at least? I guess the cost of changing flights to Australia is a fair bit, but isn't she LTA backed at least partially on these trips as a youngster?
Good win from Dani over a good player. She seems to be getting back to her best on this Australian trip.
