Week 46 - Challenger $50k - Champaign, USA

Jamie Baker should in the main draw.  Richard Bloomfield is 6th seed in qualies.  He is in the same quarter as 3rd seed Bjorn Rehnquist (SWE) #421.  In their quarter, there are 5 x WC's!

Jamie is the last direct entrant and has drawn 8th seed Robert Kendrick #144 in the first round.

Not the best draw for Jamie - In a way might have been better for him to have needed to qualify

When a Brit plays at challenger level, I always look for him to make the quarters minimum.  18 scores of 13pts+ over a season makes a pretty decent benckmark.  He has to get past a seeded player to achieve that so, I always look at his first two potential matches, not just the first round.

Therefore...................I think the draw is as good as it gets biggrin

Considering Kendrick has been ranked a lot higher and seeing as how he struggled against another serve/volleyer in Dent last week, I would say it is a bad draw.

Even if he wins he will have to play Sweeting in round two who is on a roll at the moment.

Richard def Souza 6-2 6-3 and will next play Bjorn REHNQUIST (SWE) WR.421 CH.146 in 2002.
They have met once before in the final of 2008 Manch Challenger - Rhenquist winning 7-6(8) 0-6 6-3
