R1: (5) RICE, David WR 540 vs (WC) ZAINAL, Ashaari (MAS) UNR

Nice draw Ricey. smile

Though Siributwong (who beat Fitzy) or Ireland's Colin O'Brien await in R2.

Decent win - Even though number 1 seed next he has beaten higher ranked players so here's hoping.

A final here would move him to verge of top 500

They actually lost to the second seeds, Marin Bradaric & Murad Inoyatov (CRO/UZB), by that score, having beaten Brunken & Hänle in Round 1.  Given the difference in their respective rankings (1328 compared with 1004), I don't think it was such a bad performance by David & Colin.

Good run so far from Rice and reaching the QF's is a good start to the event, but hopefully he can go on and reach the final and get that top 500 spot.

Not the easiest QF match but certainly one that he can win if he is at his best.
