Ha Ha.

Actually, Ennis, Button and Haye ( after the weekend ) are the three that came to my mind as likely contenders.

Maybe Struass could get in amongst things with his form and being Ashes captain though I can't see him winning it.

But, how was I forgetting the Aussie slayer ?   redface.gif   wink.gif

Edit :  if got to vote for one, guess I'd go for Ennis.

Mine would be Button, but I wouldn't begrudge any of the others.

Totally against the concept of comparing people from different sports. It's like saying 3 inches is greater than 2 seconds.

Anyway, it has to be Button. worship.gif What a fighter!

Personally, I don't have a problem at all about picking a SPOTY from over the whole range of sports.  Salmon seems to have managed it somehow   wink.gif

Of course it's in no way scientific and the British public does occasionally make weird choices  i.e.  ones that I would never make  smile

I hope not. An absolute legend, but this is not a lifetime achievement thingy.

Wow, turned out a very clear win for Giggs.  Though momentum had been building and he was 2nd favourite with the bookies on the day.  Why couldn't I have seen the logic of the Great British Public getting behind him, even if really much more for his career than his year, when he was evidently at original odds of 100 / 1  !!?

Anyway, votes were :

1.  Ryan Giggs   151,842   (  29.4% )
2.  Jenson Button    96,770   ( 18.7% )
3.  Jessica Ennis   80,468   ( 15.6 % )

4.  Mark Cavendish  55,860
5.  Beth Tweddle   38,907
6.  Tom Daley   36,929
7.  Andy Murray   19,936
8.  Andrew Strauss   17,237
9,  David Haye   13,966
10.  Phillips Idowu   4,507

SPOTY officially became a joke this year.

Giggs, Capello and the Men's cricket team were all horrible choices.

Also what have people got against Phillips Idowu? I don't see why only has about 6% of the votes Ennis had.
