To my mind, Marcus is desperately underranked against his potential and ability and he and these around him have to continue to address some of the reasons for that. Outside the top 400 is pretty ridiculous for him, though hopefully he will be back inside next Monday. But if he is remotely top 100 capable it has to be addressed why he has still never broken into the top 300.
I'd say that he should be top 300 already, can be top 200 in the next few years, though I would highly doubt ever top 100.
But it's great to have goals. Top 100 is extremely ambitious ( nothing at all wrong in that ! ) but will need Marcus in particular to give it his all with some necessary sacrifices to have any chance. Otherwise it is more whistling in the wind.
The CEO of LTA asked Marcus the other week what his goals were and he replied top 100 Downey is quoted as saying you should be aiming for top 10 if you seriously want to make a living from the sport

that rather tells you what the £600k (all included) a year CEO considers 'earning a living'
As the WR 100 player has, in the first 3 months of 2015, made about $93k, (and only 1 out of 4 slams played), he might want to re-think his definition of a livable salary.
While there have been a lot of good results and moves up the rankings the last few weeks in women's doubles, Heather has dropped out of the doubles top 100, down 7 to WR 103.
Rather ironically, in a week when there were some significant title successes and moves towards the top 100, the current number of top 100ers dropped by 2.
