I'd be disappointed if Mel didn't make the final here. I'd anticipate she'll face Stanciute (or Naomi?) in the semis though, which might be tricky, but to be honest there aren't many people at this level who Mel should be afraid of, and a win here would take a lot of the pressure off, as she's got so many points to defend over the next 2 months.

I think Mel should be looking to make the final too. Her half section looks pretty friendly to me.

Agreed. Nothing to suggest Mel shouldn't make the final. Don't anticipate Jade beating Stanciute. Think they've played before and Jade was routed (1 and 1 in fact) so fingers crossed it's closer.

It's the same for Cav against Schaul. They may be tied 1-1 H2H-wise but Cav's win was a 1-4 retirement and Schaul won 2 and 0 on their other meeting. Anna and Mel have good chances and there's nothing to say Cav or Jade can't win if they're on their games.

If I'm truly, truly honest, 3/4 would be about right (but I'm not a betting man) and I'm not saying who my (hypothetical) money is not on!!!

In fairness, Schaul has been awful this year and I can't see Naomi losing that one.

Apart from Jade, the first round 'should' be pretty comfortable for all of the girls.

Cav won 4 & 2. I'm now going to go for a 2 & 6 win over Stanciute...(or Jade, if poss!).
