Jade Curtis and Tara Moore are out in Japan for a bit. Jade is a direct entry into the main draw, but Tara has to come through qualies.

Is it just me or has Tara played alot of tournaments this year for a girl of 16/17 years of age. 14 so far in this calendar year. I think it is very difficult to evaluate a players performance when you are not privy to the potential problems she may have faced this year. But on paper it appears she has made little or no improvement to her game in 2009 . This time last year she was clearly a better prospect than Heather Watson but now been overtaken . Disappointing

I know shes had a few little injuries but still was expecting more from her this year, top 300 at least.

Well its tough at her age, yet alone being her age and playing tennis in all these distant countries. I think she would be better staying in Europe and perhaps looking at changing her coach/whoever else travels with her because something has clearly not been right this season.

I think she will settle down and get herself going soon, I wouldnt worry too much. Perhaps all the fuss around Laura will begin to motivate her, though I do wonder whether she would have been better staying in the juniors for longer, since think making the latter stages of the junior slams would have been good for her confidence and to raise her profile as an up-and-comer?
