Mixed news so far in the doubles:

Kyle B & Yannick Nelord (IND) UNR lost to (1) Ashutosh Singh & Vishnu Vardhan (IND/IND) WR 634 2 & 0 cry

*  Kyle will doubtless be sick of the sight of Singh once he's played him in Round 1 of the singles!

Tim Bradshaw & Max Jones UNR beat Mithun Murali & N Prasanth (IND/IND) WR 1966 6-4 4-6 [10-6] biggrin

* They play the unranked Indian WCs, Rohan Gajjar & Karan Rastogi, in the QF.  The latter dumped out the Dutch fourth seeds, Lucassen & Roep, by 1 & 4 in the first round, so are obviously no slouches!

Chris & Sean (WR 1436) are again seeded second & kick off against an unranked Korean pair, Seong-Yoon Chung & Seung-Jae Lee, in the first round.

The outstanding R1 matches involving Brits:

Sean Thornley WR 813 lost to (3) Young-Jun Kim (KOR) WR 520 1 & 3 cry
Kyle Brassington WR 945 beat  Ashutosh Singh (IND) WR 1130 0 & 4 smile
Tim Bradshaw WR 1036 lost to Yuki Bhambri (IND) WR 502 5 & 4 cry

*  Given the disparity in the rankings, neither loss entirely unexpected, methinks. hmm

R2:  (5) Chris Eaton WR 577 vs Kyle Brassington WR 945,

so at least a guaranteed quarter-finalist. wink

Chris & Sean, the second seeds, are out of the doubles, having lost 3-6 7-7(3) [8-10] to anunranked Korean pair. disbelief  That leaves only Tim & Max in the QFs. cry

Chris should come through that second round against Kyle.

Interesting how him and Thornley couldnt make it past the 1st round this week having had a great run last week pushing for the title in the doubles.

Tim Bradshaw got close to the second seed in the first round so whoever comes out winner of Chris and Kyle, it looks to be a good chance of maybe a semi spot for them if they play well.

L16:  (5) Chris Eaton WR 574 beat Kyle Brassington WR 930 by 2 & 2 smile cry

QF:  (5) Chris Eaton WR 574 vs (2) Yuki Bhambri (IND) WR 499

Bhambri had an easy match against Shane La Porte in the previous round:  he won 6-2 1-0 retired!  Come on, Chris.  He's not that far ahead of you in the rankings.  Avenge Tim Bradshaw's defeat! pretty please.gif

Edit: missing set scores added and rankings updated to 24 Aug

With Bradshaw pushing Bhambri to 5 & 4, surely we should expect Eaton to at least win a set or even the match really, if he can serve well.

Bhambri is still very young so hopefully Eaton can take the win, with a bit more experience in his favour.

The set scores weren't the only thing I forgot at lunchtime (can never be @rsed to look up the latest rankings.  Much easier to do the lazy thing & rely on what the draw sheets say! wink ).  There was also a doubles result worth reporting:  Tim & Max beat Gajjar & Rastogi by 5 & 3! biggrin They take on the Indian top seeds, Singh & Vardhan, WR 643, in the SF.  pray.gif

Well, I'll start with the good news, Tim and Max have a shot at the title:

Semifinal
BRADSHAW (GBR) / JONES (GBR) defeated SINGH (IND) / VARDHAN (IND) (1) 6-4 4-6 [10-4]
ROY (IND) / SHOKEEN (IND) (3) defeated KIM (KOR) / KIM (KOR) 6-4 3-6 [10-4]

Sadly, it looks lke Chris' ranking is about where he's playing, he was competitive, but couldn't beat the Indian starlet:
Yuki BHAMBRI (IND) (2) defeated Chris EATON (GBR) (5) 7-6(5) 6-3

Still a solid trip so far for Chris if not spectacular.
