I really feel sorry for Amanda she keeps getting a seeded player in the 1st round. Tennis can be cruel, just when you are struggling and need few easy games to restore your confidence something comes along and bites you in the bum.

So true but I would strongly advise her to drop down a grade to 10's and get her confidence back that way.

Yeah i have no idea why Mandy is playing a 25k on clay.

She should still to 10ks for the rest of the year just to build up her game. At this rate she will have given up before 2010

Results not up yet but OOP for sunday is and probably as expected Amanda lost but both Anna and Laura won. In FQR Anna has a tough match against Burnett whilst Laura has a winnable match against Bacquet of France . Good luck to both of them.

Congrats to Laura and Anna, impressive score from Laura.

Does anybody know what Lauras stance on the clay events are? Is she playing them as she genuinely believes she has the best chance of winning points on them or is it just to improve her clay court game? Will she also not be doing HC warmups for USO juniors?

As I don't know the actual answer: My take on it would be. She didn't play a full clay court season due to injury and there wasn't a stretch of hard court tournaments at the 25 level during this period. I think during this stage of her career it is all about developing her game and not chasing ranking points. As for preparation for US juniors she will have three free weeks after this tournament to be ready for that.

Shock news Anna gets LL spot and will play Laura in 1st round. The winner likely to play Piedade of Portugal.

Anna really confuses me sometimes. She struggles for most of the year playing 25Ks and tour qualies mainly on clay. She takes it down plays two 10Ks on grass, and wins one and makes the SF of the other. After playing one 25K on hard courts (listed as her favourite surface) where she makes round 2, she decides to go back to playing 25Ks on clay.... where she repeatedly falls in the final round of qualifying. I wonder why she didn't play the run of hardcourt events in Spain - ok so she may have had similar results but at least it would have been on her prefered surface. I don't know, maybe it's financially cheaper to go to the events she chose?

Or else she considers doubles to be her main focus?
