Week 30 - ATP (€450,000) - Umag, Croatia - Doubles.

Jamie D & Jamie M are having another go together, at this event! They are unseeded and their first-round opponents are the Argentine pair of Brian Dabul & Sergio Roitman. Will they get a win?confuse

Your guess is as good as mine, h, though I sincerely hope so. pray.gif  You've got to hand it to him:  he's clearly going through a really bad patch, yet he keeps on plugging away...

*  I see NoDjo & little bruv, Marko, have a wild card...

No play at all in Croatia today - from the ATP site:

Play Begins Tuesday, 28 July, 2009
Monday has been declared a national day of mourning in Croatia following a train accident that occurred two days ago. Consequently, there will be no play at the ATP Studena Croatia Open on Monday. Main draw action will begin on Tuesday, 28 July.

Talk about prolonging the agony, though I suppose Jamie & Delgo could always win their first round match & prolong it still further...! pray.gif

That explains a lot! I thought the LS wasn't working today, or it had poured down for the whole time. wink

They're not in today's OoP, either, so I guess we have to wait until tomorrow for them to take their Croatian bow! wink

Good to see Marko get a wild card. This should take him closer to clinching a deal for Big Brother 2010. A singles wild card at ATP Kuala Lumpur and he'll be famous enough to get it.

As I expected, the tie-break went the way of the first set:  5-7. cry  That said, they had a couple of mini-breaks... frustrated.gif  Final score 1-6 6-7(5). hmm

Not a good partnership in my view. Delg, just too old, for all the reactions nowadays especially at the net.

If i were Jamie, go back to Butorac, or maybe a Brit like Marray who looks to be doing more doubles and is a very solid doubles player.

Or even joining up with Goodall at a couple of challengers, he has always been a great doubles player but has taken the singles road. He had a very good partnership with Ross 2/3 years ago, if they'd both moved to doubles they would have been big, im sure.

sorry, i know auckland is currently playing WTT at the moment ( i think?) but surely he'd be 100 times better as a partner? Plus he has a higher ranking (114 against 157)
