The entry list for this event dropped off very quickly once you got past the likely seeds. Unfortunately, our Syrian (and hopefully now Georgian) correspondent has had the bad luck to draw one of them ... still that seed is outside the top 500 and our other representative has a very nice draw, with the first seed he could face only ranked 29 places above him.
L32: James Feaver WR 889 v Beka Buchukuri (GEO) WR 1498 L32: Gregory Howe WR 1254 v (5) Murad Inoyatov (UZB) WR 516

A convincing win by James gets him just his fourth ranking point of the year but sadly our correspondent seems to have had a bit of a disaster again - hope he's relatively ok.

It hasn't been a great summer.Picked up a slight wrist sprain a month ago in Malaysia. Have been careful since, but 5 minutes into the match I went for a high forehand and felt something click and instant pain. Physio strapped it up but I knew I was finished. Out of second week and got a scan booked next week in Dubai. Hopeful, but not looking great. Jamie was beside me on court 2 yesterday and the quick clay conditions appear to suit his topspinning game. He was off in a rush and looked pretty convincing out there.
James will no doubt be sick of the sight of the Tunisian, Malek Jaziri, by the time he leaves Tbilisi: not only does he face him (4th seed) in the singles QF tomorrow, but after beating Kushakov & Taktakishvili (UKR/GEO) by 2 & 2 today, he & his Irish partner, Barry King (3), take on him & the Romanian, Bogdan-Victor Leonte (2), in tomorrow's (?) doubles SF!
Jaziri is on a hot streak too - in the last two months, he has reached the Finals of Kuwait F1 & F2 and Tunisia F1 and won Tunisia F3. His 21-4 record since 18 May includes wins against Slabba, Thornley and Bains (twice)
