Israel managed to recover and claim the win 6-4 in the final set though and are into the semi finals of the Davis Cup!!!
The bad news for them is that Spain lead 2-1 against Germany and they would be away to Spain in the semi finals. Given Sela and Levy's clay court form and the fact they would be away from home, a 4-1 defeat would be the best that they could hope for with Erlich and Ram winning the doubles.
Great effort from them though to reach this far and shows that you don't need to have top players to do well in the Davis Cup. They've had a bit of luck with a very weak Swedish side in the first round, but Sela, Levy, Erlich and Ram raise their game a lot for DC, plus the Israeli crowd can rival the Argentinian/Chile crowd for noise at times as well, which really helps them.
I'm sure someone is ready to ask though how a country like Israel can reach the semi finals and we are involved in a relegation group one match!!!
If we do lose to Poland, we could face such great teams as Estonia, Turkey, Egypt, or possibly Ireland...
