Week 24 - ATP (€450,000) - Eastbourne, Great Britain

Qualifying draw comes out around 9.00 pm tonight, Im not sure, from a british point of view, who will turn up in it though. There is Bogdanovic and Evans who will probably attempt to come through as they missed out on MD wildcards, but most have to worry about Wimbledon Qualifying which starts Monday.
We will have Goodall, Fleming and Ward all in the main draw after being given wildcards.

Not strictly related to Eastbourne but the Rosmalen quali draw is out and may give an indication of what to expect in a hour or so.

Top two seeds are ranked inside the top 100 and thus already have Wimbledon entry. 3rd seed is Thiemo de Bakker who is playing his home event instead of Wimbledon qualies. 4th seed has not made the cut for Wimbledon qualies, while the 8th seed is 428, and there are 3 byes in the draw.

Something similar may be expected at Eastbourne then, and with the main draw cuts for Rosmalen and Eastbourne likely to be around the 90 mark, there's not too many top 100 players who may be expected to show up, while I suppose there may be a few more tempted to take the risk of playing qualies here as they can get to London in time if they do lose.

Still, should be good news for Boggo and Evans if the draw is quite weak, and whichever other Brits show up.

i remember last year boggo had to beat kunistyn who was in the top100 and falla who was ranked something like 101. hopefully it will be a bit weaker.

Draw is out on lta site, some decent youngsters getting stuck in here :)

Why is Smethurst playing Eastbourne qualies then? If he qualifies he'll have to skip Wimby qualifying and surely that's a bigger catch? Evans has got a tough draw as he will likely meet Dancevic in the 2nd qualifying round. And nice to see Hutchins having a shot at the singles as well.

The LTA have managed to surpass themselves with this latest effort.

At 22.10 they release a press statement about qualifying, which in terms of the men, only talks about the 5 WC's in the draw and says that for the men, play will begin on Sunday.

10 minutes earlier they had released and order of play and the draw, both of which include men's matches on the Saturday.

Very weak draw though although to be honest I don't suspect we'll get more than one qualifier from it.

Boggo should be delighted with his draw - having a youngster in the second round and then either Zeballos/Knowle/Sanguinetti to qualify. Knowle is a doubles specialist, Sanguinetti is retired, while Zeballos is not a typical Argentinian in that he does seem to like faster surfaces and had a solid game at Queens last week, but he doesn't have anything that will really trouble Boggo.

Shame for Evans to get the draw he did as Dancevic in round two is a tough draw to get in such a weak draw. Would be surprised given his recent form if he could get through that, but Dancevic is not at his best at the moment so he's got a chance.

Will be good to see some of the other players in action but Spadea and Klein should ease through the other sections, or so I would suspect.

I will hopefully get a good look at some of the younger players as well and it will be nice to see how they fare at ATP qualies level. From what I imagine, courts 2, 3, 4, 10 and 12 will all be next to each other (I can't see where else they would be given the size of the site, but you can't look it to it anymore now they've put the signage up.), and given that there aren't any other grass courts in the town, they must be on the site somewhere.

actually seems like the dubs specialists qualify draw. but with 12 pts on offer for a qualifier that's not a bad offering

The Sun has just come out so I don't see any reason why play won't be beginning on time. Just about to head over to the courts in a few minutes, so hopefully it should be a good day of tennis.
