RE: French Open Main Draw

Larcher de Brito....Dont know what to make of that really. I guess shes beatable. She was 6-0 3-0 down before coming back. I hope that doesnt give her crazy confidence.

Marino, the girl Anne beat recently, got in as the LL. What a jammy bitch, its so typical that when 1/2 the players are British, the other half gets picked.

Typical, the womens week could be over by tuesday...

Hm, looking forward to Mel vs MLDB - she's been taken to 3 sets in all 3 rounds I think, so might be a bit knackered to compete with our new super-fit Miss South! Though I guess deafening your opponents into submission is a good tactic too. Will be fascinating to see what happens.

Lol urgh the shrieking....Looks like Mels eardrums will be getting an equally good workout!

Zheng is in the doubles final in Warsaw so lets hope that if Mel is to win she is either tired, or has a bad day and is upset in R1 or even by Mel. That would be amazing.

Im excited to see if Mel is really much fitter and a better player. I guess coming through 9 sets of tennis as a young and inexperienced player puts you at a disadvatage vs anyone, yet alone someone who hasnt done matches in ages and has seriously improved their fitness.

She and her partner Maria Kondratieva were two out last Friday at sign-in. Whether they have moved up or in since then I don't know.

The screech seems to start half a second after she hits the ball sometimes and continue until after her opponent hits the ball - surely that ought to be outlawed, it's just blatant cheating.

No surprise that she went to Bolletieri's ...

Strewth! disbelief  Almost wish I hadn't looked at/heard that.  Worse than Sharapova, Monica Seles & Jimbo the Grunt combined! eyepopping.gif  Still, at least I now know what to expect when she plays a Brit.  Won't bother watching when she's playing anybody else, just hope she loses! nod.gif

Yeah, and notice how it stops the moment she realises she's hit out - so it's not like it's a natural 'follow through' from the effort - can't believe noone's had a quiet word with her about it. However, she's a talented girl, it's not like she's won stuff just by screaming!

You're probably too young to remember:  Jimmy Connors, arguably the first player of the modern era to indulge in such assaults on spectators' hearing! hmm  Not a problem if you're deaf, I suppose... wink
